Third party software developers can use the Sage Pastel Evolution SDK to
write customer specific applications that interact with the sage pastel
evolution accounting system without needing to directly execute sql statements
against the evolution database or having to work out relevant business rules and
processes to update the accounting system.
The Sage Pastel Evolution SDK is typically used for transaction processing
and adding or modifying of accounts, as these records can originate from any
external source, whether it is an external application database, XML extract,
web service, or custom user interface.
The Sage Pastel Evolution SDK has been created using an Application
Programming Interface (API) that exposes typical Pastel Evolution functionality
to application developers.
The API embeds Sage Pastel Evolution business logic enabling external
applications to connect to, and interact directly with, a Sage Pastel Evolution
SQL Server database. Third party developers can currently interface with Sage
Pastel Evolution however through the introduction of Sage Pastel Evolution SDK
all programme logic and rules are taken care of, development time is accelerated
and the integrity of the data is ensured.
Since the Sage Pastel Evolution SDK is packaged as a Microsoft .NET 2.0 class
library assembly, the ideal platform when utilising the SDK is the .NET
framework. However, since many third party developers programme in various other
mainstream languages, integration through COM is possible using programming
languages such as Visual Basic 6, Delphi and Visual Basic for Applications such
as Visual C++.
Sage Pastel Evolution modules are currently supported, in whole or in part.
In order to take advantage of the abilities of the Sage Pastel Evolution SDK,
developers and clients need to purchase the following connectors. This
subscription is subject to your acceptance of the Sage Pastel Developer’s
